Creamy & Fresh Strawberry Milkshake (DAIRY-FREE)

I never was a huge fan of strawberry milkshakes growing up because I would find the strawberry flavour to be quite artificial and too sweet. That being said, we were given a huge bag of ripe frozen strawberries a few weeks ago that needed to be eaten and so, this delicious, creamy, perfectly-sweet strawberry milkshake was born!! It also happens to be dairy-free and refined sugar free.

This recipe has quickly become a staple in my weekly rotation of snacks and desserts and I hope it becomes the same for you.

Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups ripe strawberries, frozen*

  • 200ml canned full-fat coconut milk (1/2 a can)

  • 1/4 cup oat or almond milk**

  • 1 large ripe banana

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2-3 tbsp raw honey

  • Pinch salt

  1. Add ingredients to a blender in the order listed.

  2. Blend on high until smooth and well combined. Add more almond/oat milk if needed to get things moving in the blender.

  3. Taste and adjust to your preference. Add more strawberries for a stronger strawberry flavour or more honey for extra sweetness.

  4. Divide among 2 glass mugs or cups and enjoy!

*Fresh, frozen strawberries are best for optimal flavour but bagged frozen ones will also work well.

**The additional oat or almond milk is optional and this depends on the strength of your blender as yours may need a bit more liquid to get moving along. Add a little at a time as we want to maintain the thick and creamy consistency!
